The British Council Australia is proud to support Creative Climate, a pioneering national alliance that places arts at the heart of climate action across Australia. Launched in June 2025, this collaboration brings together diverse expertise to create meaningful change through creative expression.

Creative Climate is a national consortium dedicated to building a low-carbon, adaptive and regenerative arts sector. Led by Green Music Australia and funded by Creative Australia, the alliance brings together key organizations including A Climate for Art, Centre for Reworlding, and pvi collective, alongside other creative sector partners.

Through its two-year partnership with Creative Climate, the British Council Australia is delivering programs that connect practitioners across the UK and Australia, sharing climate knowledge and strengthening international creative networks for a sustainable future. This collaboration aligns perfectly with the British Council's mission of cultural exchange and positions the organisation as a leader in sustainable creative practices.

As Helen Salmon, Director of British Council Australia, notes: "When arts meets climate action, meaningful change happens through creative expression. We're delighted to collaborate in this important mission to strengthen our creative sectors for the long term, while contributing to public engagement with sustainable futures."

Creative Climate provides practical tools and coordinated leadership to help Australia's creative sector transition away from a carbon-based economy. From green venue certification to carbon calculators, the alliance is turning climate passion into tangible outcomes. The consortium's work focuses on embedding culture in national climate policy, driving emissions reduction, leveraging arts to shift public narratives, and investing in Indigenous-led cultural frameworks.

The partnership will support innovative programs connecting UK and Australian creative practitioners, fostering knowledge exchange and developing new models for sustainable creative practice. The British Council Australia is excited to be part of this vital mission to place the arts at the forefront of climate transformation.
