Sydney student enjoys NTU’s close-knit international community
At Nottingham Trent University (NTU) we give our students the best opportunities for success. With excellent courses, expert teaching and superb facilities you’ll get everything you need for a successful future.
But studying at NTU goes beyond the lectures and classrooms. Our students have a range of opportunities to add to their experiences both on campus and around the world. Many of our courses include a placement giving students first-hand experience and a real advantage in their career.
Sydney student Guy Dempster studied BA Fashion Knitwear Design and Knitted Textiles at NTU. As part of his course, Guy is taking a paid placement with a leading textile manufacturer in Hong Kong working as a marketing trainee. Guy says the University gave him “invaluable assistance” in getting the placement.
Guy made the most of the opportunities available at NTU. He told us, “I was amazed by how many other international students were here in Nottingham and I had no problems meeting people and making new friends. I joined plenty of societies and clubs including the LGBT society and I’ve really enjoyed how inclusive NTU is.”
Before studying at NTU, Guy studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York. So how did his experience in Nottingham compare to the Big Apple?
“I was surprised to find that Nottingham sometimes feels even more multicultural than New York City! The whole city is made for students and I’ve garnered a more diverse group of friends here than anywhere else in the world that I’ve studied.”
