Join us as Australia’s top early career researchers will use their use their charm, charisma and knowledge to battle it out to win the National Final.

Contestants are armed only with their wits and a few props to describe their research – the result is an unpredictable, enlightening and exciting way to encourage curiosity and find out about the latest research.

This big night of science will be hosted by superstar astrophysicist, Dr. Alan Duffy at the State Theatre Centre in Western Australia on Wednesday 8 May 2019. The Australian winner will go on to compete in the global finals at FameLab International, held in the UK at the Cheltenham Science Festival.

FameLab is the world’s leading science communication competition created by Cheltenham Festivals in the UK. The global competition finds and mentors young STEM – science, technology, engineering, and mathematics – researchers with a knack for communication to share their stories with the world.

In 2019, FameLab is produced in Australia by the Foundation for the WA Museum with international partner the British Council.
