ACCELERATE is a tailored leadership initiative for talented Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people working in the creative industries.
Through an intensive, fully funded programme that includes leadership development, mentoring and industry placements in Australia and the UK, it offers outstanding applicants a unique opportunity to develop as leaders in their field.
“ACCELERATE will open doors for you that you probably don’t even know exist…
It will also really get you thinking about what leadership is, why it’s so important, and that it’s a practical – not just a conceptual thing.” - Alison Page, 2012 recipient
ACCELERATE came about in response to the lack of representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in positions of influence within the creative sector and mainstream media. ACCELERATE aims to empower its alumni with the recognition, skills and networks to drive their own careers, both internationally and at home. Drawing on the UK’s strong creative sector, it actively refreshes the cultural dialogue between the two nations and promotes international collaboration, skill sharing and network building.
The five recipients of the ACCELERATE 2013 programme - Kimberley Moulton, Solomon Booth, Ron Bradford Jnr, Andrea James and Michael Cook – have returned from their UK trips. You can see news about them on our British Council Australia Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BritishCouncilAustralia.
Applications for the next round of ACCELERATE will open early 2014. Please watch this space for details, or join our mailing list for updates.
